Yavapai Hills Deeply-Rooted History
This beautiful subdivision has deep historical roots too. For example, back in 1913 Tom Mix (the king of cowboys) moved his family to what was then Bar Circle A Ranch. Tom Mix spent much of his time at his ranch while filming many of the old western movies that were made in the Prescott area. Mix also had success in our local Prescott Frontier Days rodeo, in 1913 he once took the first prize in a Bull Riding contest. “It is important for Prescott to have these performances filmed for the sentiment is truly western, and Prescott is indeed the center of things western . . . In other words, Tom Mix belongs in Prescott, for the spirit of the ‘action picture man’ is at home here.” – Tom Mix.
Mix had a deep history with Prescott and with the Frontier Days here in Northern Arizona. In Mix’s time, he made around eighty-five pictures between 1917 and 1928, returning to Prescott several times. Most notably in 1922 for his film Romance Land. Sadly enough, the majority of Tom’s films were “lost” from nitrate decomposition, and a horrible fire in 1937.
Location, Location, Location…
This truly is a wonderful community and should be explored by anyone interested in the Prescott area. Enjoy the best of Arizona blue skies near hundreds of miles of hiking in the nearby Prescott National Forest and State Trust Land. Also, located close to Lynx Lake where you can enjoy local fishing activities, small boat rentals, barbecues or hikes with the family. Yavapai Hills location is considered ideal by many due to being centrally found within 4 miles of downtown Prescott. Every phase of this subdivision has changed and evolved to meet the current market demands of the new residents. Most of the older homes are located closer to the clubhouse and have developed out from there up into the hills and further around the area. New home construction is abundant in the newer phases of this community. Resale homes come on the market all the time and really show the character of the area throughout all the different sections of the master planned community. If anyone wants to build their dream home here, vacant lots are also available to build on. They really do have it all…
Yavapai Hills welcomes anyone to visit and enjoy the natural beauty of this land located in “everybody’s hometown”, Prescott, Arizona.

To schedule a private showing of homes located in this or any other neighborhood, please feel free to call me and set an appointment to see in person. Growing up in Prescott, my family and I lived here when I was an adolescent. I can remember exploring the hills behind our house to build forts and chase rabbits. This is truly one of my favorite spots in town to live.
